I have a 98 Supra Satare I just bought, when I picked it up I was told it needed a trans. I bought a manual and disassembled it myself to see what failed. I have a PCM 40i 1:1 transmission and I found that the forward clutch hub was damaged and that the fiber plates from the forward clutch pack were missing some teeth. Im prepared to rebuild it but I have now come across a PCM 40A 1.23:1 power plus transmission for less than I can buy my parts. Will the 40a work in my boat? Are there pros and cons to doing the trans swap? If it wont work in my boat could I potentially pull it apart for the parts I need? Any help is greatly appreciated!
