Thinking of making a roadtrip and going for 4th of july. Never been to this lake. Does anybody have any good details?

I haven't been there, I have heard it is a great lake,,,,Last year they had bad FIRES in the area.

Only good for parking and having a good time during the 4th, not for wakeboarding unless you hit it in off hours or weekdays. But Its a pretty area, pretty lake and canyon like walls and very fun for the 4th and stereo wars. Here is a camping picture, hells gate is to the left and thats where the parties are.

Great lake, !st dam on the Brazos river. Make your reservation asap the 4th gets booked early. They have awsome fireworks display @ (Hells Gate) big party cove that always rocks! Lake has over 300 miles of shoreline so you can always find calm water. Check cancellation policy when you book in case the drought persists. The Pk chamber has a website that lists all the places to stay. Has some great hike and bike trails if you are into that.
