Depth and Water Temp?

My 2007 20SSV has the digital display for depth and water temp, but both failed to work this weekend when i took my boat out for the first run of the year. They both are displaying but fail to change. The depth is stuck at 3.3' and the temp at 32 f. Is this some kind of default setting? Does anybody know how to troubleshoot the system? I assume that these are built into the paddlewheel plate on the bottom of the hull since i didn't see anything else sticking down off of my boat.

Yes, the depth transducer and temp sensor are in the paddlewheel assembly - it's probably a "triducer" made by Airmar. I don't know about trouble shooting other than looking for loose wires or connectors.

My depth finder hasn't worked since I have owned my boat. I am thinking about installing a new one for this season. Anyone give me an idea if these are semi-idiot proof? I can handle most things, but I hate electrical crap. Sorry didn't mean to hi-jack.
