I have been looking for a new boat and haven't seen many mid 90's sunsports or saltares. I would like something new then 92' to avoid and wood rotting issues, but it just doesn't' seem like there is much out there. Was there not many sold during these years or do people like them so much they just can't let go of them?

Yes and Yes.... Typicially the composite boats run $10 000 plus depending on condition ect. Not many were sold during that era too which also drives up the $$. Nothing wrong with the older wood boats. Just watch out for the stringer issues and such.

A couple of hours after i make that post a 96' sunsport comes up for sale on craigslist for $16K. It looks like a a very well taken care of boat, but unfortunately it is a little out of my price range. Maybe i will get lucky and find an older supra with good stringers, i really like the look of the late 80's saltare. Any idea on how much it cost to do a DIY stringer rebuild? I think i would enjoy the project but it sounds like a lot of hours, and it's hard to find time with little ones running around the house!

Mine ran about $2500 in materials for full stringers and floor - exterior plywood, poly resin, & various cloth/matt/etc. (plus I already had some materials and all the tools). Marine ply, epoxy, & other upgrade materials could run you higher. Typically about half the cost of having it done by a good shop.

I'd say keep looking and you will find your boat. I was in the same boat (pun intended) as you as I did not want a wood boat. I bought ours last September... 1993 Sunsport. They are out there, you just have to be patient.

What did you pay for your 93' Sunsport? without seeing many for sale it's hard to put a price tag on one. There is a 93 for sale in Seattle for $9,500 and a 95' Sunsport with 1100 hours sold in Dallas a few weeks ago with an asking price of around $11,000.

Owner had it listed for $13,000. I bought it for $10,500. It came with just about everything. Tower, ballast (1800lbs), life vests, anchors, etc. I have about 900 hours with the motor being rebuilt (supposedly..no documentation) at unknown hours. I was choosing between that and a '93 Nautique Excel with about the same hours with less options for the same price. Decided on the Supra.
