Well I can't decide what to do with the Sunsport decals... so lets here your suggestions or better yet show me.
Do what you wish to the boat and post your ideas

Here is something that Titan did which I like.... however I'm looking for simpler maybe.
Doesn't have to include the wave, and could include Sunsport with it. Would like to use chrome vinyl, or layered colors, Like red on cream or chrome on black.
What I don't want is a stripe from front to back.
The prize? Well it just may end up on my boat.

I vote for simple grey the same as the top in colour. As for the design copy the 10 anniversary edition. Plain, simple and classic for the long haul.

I personally don't think our boats are sleek enough to pull off the graphic you have on that blue boat. Maybe sleek isn't the right word but I just don't think the 80's SS's can do it. I know you mentioned that you don't want just a stripe from front to back, but what I was going to suggest is trying to incorporate something like KG has set up. Solid color side, with two red stripes and the model of his boat in chrome raised lettering at the back. I think that looks real sharp.

Here's a current picture of my boat, and then a picture I photoshopped that I would consider my fantasy look:

Whatever you choose, just do it right and be proud of it, can't go wrong with that!

Good point chris. You have a designers mind or eye. you have to think it all of the way through and see stuff people wouldnt normally see. But your right. Those look more like BLUNT mallet rather than a sharp knife. lol. I like what chris drew. Nice.

This is what im thinking for mine. The decal is silver when its on the white backer not so much on the blue.
Will most likely end up black.

wiatowski, I think you definitely need the stripe down at the water line, gives it a little contrast. And I think that font is too big. Of course, these are just my opinions!

Well you know I'm going old fashioned. I'm going to redo the stripe and the wave on my boat, but in charcoal gray and silver.

I prefer the clean look. So if anything, I say less is more. Let the boat stand out, not the decal.

9604I don't have the waterline stripe any longer....so I went with something simple. I guess I'm not a big flashy person....although it could also be because I'm a bit on a budget right now also. LOL

Like the 20 DD edition. I also thought about 351 DD, or Sunsport Classic

My wife doesn't want a stripe.... so that's why I made the front bigger and would put the bottom of it at the water line.
What font did you use for the back?

Font is too large -regardless of stripe or no stripe.Don't rush --take your time and look around . Lots of great ideas out there!

Obviously, I like the plain side with just something at the back. I incorporated the supra logo into mine.

What about the old school wave at the back?

I will try to find some of the "ideas" they sent me when I was looking at doing mine. In the mean time, here is mine and a what a buddy did ...

A few years ago when I was going through all of this I played with several colors. . . .

This was my first choice . .

And this was what we ended up with . . .

Maybe I should get my wave back on. I have an " original" style wave in gray, that was supposed to match my gray water-line tape. We put the gray wave on, then the tape, but the two grays were not the same. So I ended up taking the wave off. I still have two. It was going to look like the pic in #14.

250% I agree.

You know what I've noticed. Everyone seems to think that losing the wave from the Supra corporate logo is/was the worst thing in the world a few months back. I know, I was one of them.
Heck, I thought changing the original font is/ was the stupidest thing ever. I mean how many Supra fonts do I see while surfing on here? Three, four, maybe five different styles? How many fonts does Mastercraft have? Nautique? Ford? (btw, one simple oval design since 1912)
People complained that brand loyalty is something the wave brought and now also gone the instant recognition of the product with it. Yet, 5 out of 5 enthusiasts on here restore a boat to near perfect condition and fail to put the one thing back one that gives it its true identity, the wave logo. The wave even up till the late 90's or early 2000's was a stylish icon on the side of the boat.
I just don't get it I guess. I know I'm a Supra dinosaur. I had mine taken off, boat wetsanded and immediately without even a hint of doubt, had new vinyl back on. I never ever questioned it.
I would rather put the wave and stripe back on in fluorescent orange or lime green before ever ditching it completely to "update" the look.

I guess what I'm ranting about is so many of you got upset at the wave disappearing from the top of a website page, but nobody says anything when every day stripes and waves are removed with the good intentions of gelcoat restoration and then gone forever because buying a Supra decal is so much easier to put on than adding the wave back on. I mean if your boat is so "old and dated" with the wave, why care if Corporate feels the same?

If your brand loyalty lies with all the different Supra fonts, then don't bitch at the wave icon leaving. If your brand loyalty is identified with the wave icon, then be loyal and show some Supra pride by putting it back on your freshly polished gelcoat. I really don't care either way. Seen it all on here and wish I hadn't!

My opinion.

With a boat with so much history why change the look so much. By trying to make it look newer than it is, it actually takes away its nostalgic beauty. Then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder ....
Here is the best example of my vision; Transfer the white background to red and the stripe the same colour as the grey banding.

Anybody know what the original Font was for supra like you see on the 10 ann. edition. Not just on the side but the sunsport by the windshield?
So confusing to decided what to do... you don't want to fork out $ for something and then say " I wish I had done..."
The top bar looks grey but it's actually a cream color.

decisions, decisions.

We tried to find te "Sunsport Skier" decals and I truly believe there are none to be had. Also we tried to duplicate it with no success. It doesn't seem to be a font we could find.

Seems to be the problem.... I emailed supra to see if they could point me in the right direction for a font... haven't heard back. Will have to try to get something close that I can give my letter girl.

I liked the comment about finding something I'm happy with, but appreciate all the input and suggestions, so keep them coming. :)

For the Sunsport Skier sticker under the side window??? Your best luck is for someone to take a high res photo of it for you and bring it in to a sign/lettering place.

So my wife accidentally threw out my sticky note with my waterline and wave measurements.... Could someone please measure theirs? Wave H x L? and bottom stripe from the rub rail down... say underneath the rear cleat and under the front of the side vent?

Wanted to post an idea or 2...This is for sure

Keep in mind that the grey will actually be chrome, and it will be an actual supra logo on the side. Any thoughts?

I like the general look of everything so far. For me none of the three are perfect but a blend would would work. Place the Supra on the back Where the Silver Lake Sports was and try adding a suttle skier to the Sunsport on the side. Something like the originial Sunsport Skier logo by the windshield.

Perhaps it is the angle but the Supra on the side looks out of balance with the rest of the boat to me. Remember less is more sometimes....

That is exactly how my dad's 97 sunsport came from the factory.... Supra by the wave and sunsport by the vent. I pick that way.

I think the perfect size and font for the Supra on the rear section of the wave is found on your trailer near the front section. This way the boat looks modern but still hold true to its heritage.

#6 is closest to what I have invisioned from the start. I think the Supra on the side if reduced in size by 20% or so would make the boat longer, more sporty and give a hint of mystery. The thought of a large Supra on the side of a boat translates to me "THIS IS A SUPRA!!"...... This works on some boats, mostly the way too kool $80 000 ones.

A larger supra across the transom would complete the look.

So here are the top 4 choices as chosen by me and my wife... the new look will be one of these.
9755975697579758

The last one the SUPRA would be shorter/smaller. both my wife and I like either one... although she not a big fan of the second one... it seems to be the most popular.
The chrome stripe has already been ordered...going to put my lettering order in as soon as a final decision is made. :)
