Got skunked with rain here today and it looks to be much the same all week long. Bright side is at least the lake and river levels are finally coming up from the typical winter draw down.

With the delayed spring in Chicago I had a chance to redo my trailer hubs and re-varnish the teak. Small projects but I'm really happy with how they turned out. Here's some pics of the teak.

First of many things coming this month:

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/woodwrangler/photo-58.jpg

Boat Bling: Hot Sauce for water spots, Vinyl Sauce for cleaning the vinyl, and Vinyl Conditioner,
Over the past number of years I've been in the Exquisite Vinyl cleaner camp, and swore by that stuff. Not to mention how many times I've posted how great the product is. Not sure what has happened to their customer service? I placed a new order for a gallon of the cleaner, as well as the leather cleaner and conditioner for our vehicles on the 22nd. Paid for that day, haven't heard boo since. I've tried 3 times now to contact her, and no response. So, looks like a paypal dispute is in my future and I'm on to promoting a new product.

First reviews of testing the Boat Bling vinyl cleaner are very positive. I haven't really dug in and started cleaning yet, but couldn't help myself from giving it a try when the Fedex guy just dropped it off. There's another positive with Boat Bling, they have an actual website, accept actual credit cards through their site, and ship quickly..... all be it, across Phoenix :)

The Hot Sauce is going to be amazing. I just got the boat back from 2 months at the dealer for an issue I'm not willing or ready to discuss, anyway, it sat outside with the cover for those 2 months and got a little rain. Although they washed it, they didn't clean the tower and it was full of water spots. I had to give this stuff a try, claims its good for the entire boat including the tower and glass. (don't try to clean glass with the vinegar/water mixture)

Whelchel86, great shot- I am looking forward to some of that this summer! Bigcity444, did you actually use varnish on your teak, or did you go the traditional route with teak oil? Just curious as I sanded and oiled the same parts on my Mariah last year, and the came out real nice and still look good this year. Oh yeah, the river here is too high and too many chunks.

I did Varnish. The wood wasn't dried out and turning white so this seemed the better option for me.

Sanded with 100 grit then wiped with thinner. 1st coat was 60/40 Varnish/Thinner. Next day sanded with 200 grit, wiped with thinner. Then 80% Varnish, 20% thinner. I still have two coats of 100% Varnish to go with plans to sand at 200 before each. These photos were taken after the first coat.

This is how I spent my day, had to go to my buddy's place to check as he heard his boat lift was not there for install by the marina. I was headed out anyways to go do something else in the area so I decided to swing by his place as well... Sure enough, no boat lift where it was left in the fall and nowhere to be found near the property.

Entirely possible that the sailboat lift is gone as well, which is odd, I wasn't even looking for that one. I'm pretty sure though that the lift that I saw that was rotated 90 degrees tot he shore is on your neighbors property towards Beulah and not yours.

Finally I can contribute! Had a great first day on the water. I really should have given the Saltare a good detailing but it was warm and the wind was calm so I couldn't pass it up.

The crew
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o234/cadunkle/Water%202012/P1020806.jpg

Sent this one to my buddy who was dying to get out but had prior obligations. Older guy I work with who is totally into being on the water, he doesn't ride but he's always out and has at least 4x the hours driving my boat as I do. Basically my pro driver. Sent with a caption "Something's missing"
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o234/cadunkle/Water%202012/IMG-20120506-00047.jpg

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o234/cadunkle/Water%202012/IMG-20120506-00053.jpg

The Saltare ran great for the first time out. Only one minor problem when my buddy was pulling me. He stopped and turned it off as I was cutting into the wake. Said there was a bad vibration. I went under and felt the prop (no visibility in the river), didn't feel any dings. Started and in gear the shaft spun straight as an arrow observing from inside. Ran up to 50 MPH and butter smooth. I'm stumped, but there was a LOT of debris in the river. I'm guessing the shaft or prop caught some weeds and cleared itself when he cut the throttle.

Aside from that, idiot of the month award for me. I was distracted circling around my buddy and damn near ran over my new coated mainline. Hit reverse and no harm done.

Heated seat and heater worked great. Someone managed to pull one of the vent tubes off the heater core, forgot to put clamps on them last season. So just some clamps and it should be great. I actually forgot I had it for the first two riders when they got in the boat shivering. lol The heater was definitely appreciated though, and I have requests to put heater seats in more than just the drivers seat.

Hope to clean up the boat this week and get out again next weekend. Looking forward to a good season.

Spent some time cleaning this weekend, and may have come to realize I am way too anal about how clean I want the boat to be. I probably have 6 hours in to cleaning the interior with another 8-10 hours needed this week. Thus far, I am very pleased with the boat bling cleaning products. In the past 4 years, the drivers seat hasn't been this clean and white, although this is the first time I've pulled the seat for cleaning, which allowed me easier access to clean the carpet.

First time out with the Launch!!! Everything I thought it could be and more. The power was very impressive and instant, in fact the prop seemed allittle too small WRT the way the engine could spool up. From idle to 4000rpm and the boat wasn't even out of the hole yet. Reminded me of driving on wet pavement with a heavy right foot. Way too much fun to drive.

As for the pics the kids played on the swim platform and set in the water feet dangling in the frigid waters. I lasted a few minutes with my feet in the water too. Could not imagine jumping in... My daughter got a little cold on the way home and made a new snuggie.... Dog included.

Yep, that's a faucet. It was a factory accessory. There's supposed to be a bladder in the storage area underneath, but it's not functional. I just repaired it, painted it, and it's basically filling a hole right now. I intend to do something else with the space sometime. Right now it's a great conversation piece.

We've got some canyon walls on some of the lakes that will shield from the wind, but there's usually an unrideable time from 12-4 no matter what. A couple small secret spots, but if you get a few boats there it's done-for.

The tower is actually a fabricated Mastercraft X-series tower from one of the previous owners. You can see the X in between the racks. It was solidly welded so I have no concerns there. Only part I don't like is that it doesn't fold down.

Tried something different. .

Nerve racking, isn't it?

And since it's been about 10 posts since we've seen any pics......

Glad I cleaned the carpet 5 or 6 pages ago...., and BEFORE the stereo upgrade.....

Wow is that a mess! You got your work cut out for you, too! I personally think clean up is probably the worst part.

I'm not much of a photographer but here's a few from this month. It's the only big tie-up party around here and only happens once a year. There's a country music concert on the river bank during all of this but everyone wants to be their own DJ on the boats... It's still a pretty fun time though.

Well, Ronix's 5 Gallons of Freedom Tour came into NC this week! And yesterday they were at my home lake near Charlotte. So I got to go spend sometime on a 2011 Nautique 230 with Dean Smith. Here are some pictures from the day of me riding!!

You've got to love how big this wake is compared to me, lol.

factory ballast in the 230 completely full. I havent tried an airchair becasue it wont work for me. You have to be able to have core strength when using hydrofoils. I have no core strength or control so its out of the question. however, I have thought about mounting my cage to the hydrofoil but its too expensive for a "maybe". lol

that would be cool.... there always has to be a first! :).... Don't think it would be my thing. What board are you riding? Is it custom or just a regular on and you put the cage on?
Props by the way for enjoying life to the full... I know lots who don't.

yeah its a regular wakeboard. These photos are actually of me riding Dean Smith's board which is the Ronix Mana. The cage is custom made to fit me perfectly and then it can mount to any wakeboard.

Thanks man! I try to keep living my life no matter the obstacles put forth.

No problem... I have very severe asthma... yes I realize it not the same deal.... however it's nearly killed me 3 times. I enjoy life despite having some limitations, and at least try even when others say I shouldn't or can't. :)

Does your cage bolt on? or snaps to the edges? What board do you normally ride? I here the Mana is a sweet ride.

severe asthma? and you are out there wet sanding that sunsport? man, you're crazy, lol. I dont think I would be out there sucking up fumes and dust if I had asthma, lol. but you gotta get it done, right. :)

The cage bolts into the binding locations. This way you can move it forward or reverse to allow for a smooth ride. All last year I rode the 2011 Shaun Murray Nova Core board. The year before that i rode a cheap 2009? Gator Militant board. The Mana was a pretty neat board. It has an extremely late, aggresive, three stage rocker. Molded in fins at the tip and tail with a removable center fin. Also, the center is extremely flat so the landings are a bit rougher than the Murray board which has a center spine. The edge on the Mana allowed for quick and easy edging. Actually, I dont think I have ever edged that hard in my life. It is an aggresive board!!! And of course, seeing Dean Smith ride the baord you can understand why its like that. He goes so HUGE and so far into the flats! I know if it were me out there riding as big and hard as he does I would probably break some ligaments in the knees.

It's not super pretty but it sure is sealed up good and tight which is better than what was there before, both seals on the trapps failed in addition to none of the screws being sealed that held the flange against the transom.

same here. i've had no pics to contribute for months. i'm right below a dam at my neighborhood ramp. water is sometimes only 3' depending on releases from the dam. that's idle speed only time and nerve wracking to say the least. perfect for dropping anchor but that's about it.

Im like a little kid that cant play with all his new toys!!!!That sounds rough, they also do a winter draw down up here but the lakes are all back to normal summer levels. I'm headed out of town on my honeymoon a week from today but I will be back middle of the first week in June. Invite is open from then on if your situation does not improve by then. Might I suggest some reading on how to summon the rain via rain dances in the meantime?

For wheels AND tires?

Yes. They came off of a Chrysler 300. Bolt pattern is right but I was worried that the offset would be wrong. I'm sort of right. If I had inner fenders (which I don't) they would FOR SURE be in the way. I could probably space them out another 1/4" before I'd be in danger of rubbing on the outside edge of the fender but still probably wouldn't clear the inner fenders.

They are also about 1" taller than my original tire/wheel setup. This was intentional as I was hoping to gain more clearance on my prop guard. In reality, though, it's even more than 1" difference because these tires have MUCH stiffer sidewalls than my old balloon tires.

On your speed In your pic it looks like your mph is about 25 and your rpms are 2500 that seems about right. Do you have the speed calibration buttons? My daughter has played with the calibration and thrown the speed way off. If you want to check your speed and you have acces to a slalom course it takes about 19.2 sec to go through the course which is 849 feet.

Think I ordered the tower back in late February. It was a package deal from h20sportswarehouse.com. It included 2 wakeboard racks. They first said it would ship early April then later they said April 23. After thoes two dates came and went I was told early May. Think it showed up first week of May. The racks showed up way back in March. The tower light came in about a week after the tower. I think they must ship from 3 diffrent warehouses. If you ordered from the same outfit I understand your question. I'm not real happy with the runaround I got from h20 sports warehouse but everything did show up and I'm happy with the end result.

not happy was an understatement... they just told me 2 more weeks for my racks... I ordered beginning of march. Had them ship it to my friend in buffalo.... asked them to ship the racks to my house cause no where did it read that it would all come separately... So mad!!!! Thanks for the compliments!

I have the adjustment knobs. The prop is a ss 4 blade, 13x13.5. I didn't calibrate them because they're acting up still. One is very slow to react, the other is dead. I blew out the tubes but not the pIckups. I have a feeling those are clogged. I have gps on my iPhone so I was just going to calibrate it that way.

Mostly going to use this boat for wake boarding. The real test is this weekend, 7 people in the boat and around 700 lbs of ballast

Yeah I agree. But in their defense I used to have an online business and some of my stuff was shipped factory direct. So h20 may be at the mercy of Aerial's factory or warehouse. They probably don't even get to see the product. But thats no excuse for their bad customer support. When I was in that situation I would give my customers updates every step of the way. Heck I new my product better and my customers new the deal before they purchased. Hang in there hopefully everything will show before your headed to the lake.

Yeah you'll definitely be fine, throw some more people, ballast, gas, etc in that corner and you'll be good to go.

Forgot to post this picture. Cleaned the teak up. When dry it's a natural color, when wet here's what it looks like

Couple of pics from Memorial Day of two of my sons surfing . . . The youngest riding the wave. The middle son . . . well he has to be different! The middle son added another trick to his bag - he landed a forward roll yesterday!

Didn't get any on the lake pics. Pretty windy and choppy so we spent most of the weekend on the beach. Finally got some epic wakeboarding Monday morning. Worth it.

Well.... ended up having to attend a funeral on Friday and did not make it to pick up my props. That meant that my boat was out of commission for the weekend. Had to fall back on plan b: Little Damage.

Plenty of people enjoying the HOT weather on Saturday.

Severe weather rolled in and by Monday AM the river had gone up 3 feet and the river has now gone no-wake. Supposed to go up another 3 feet this week. I'm guessing we won't be able to surf/ride for at least another 2 weeks. Bah!~!

Little guy decided he wanted to go surfing. He looks scared but kept signing for "more" with a big grin after.

Hey Hematoma, lets see that stereo.LOL no problem I'm gonna take some pics here in a bit of the LED's and I'll get some pics of the system. It's nothing special, I added the 5 1/4's on the dash so they reflect of the windshield all the other speakers are in the factory locations except for the 6x9's. Not to toot my own horn but it's loud. Way more than what you really need. I had my wife idle away with it turned up to 20 (max Is 32) 1/4 mile or so away it was crystal clear! We don't even listen to music when we are wake surfing! If the music is playing my wife will get all into the music and doesn't pay attention to the wake. So, no music while surfing. lol

Took the boat out for mem weekend. Did great! For surfing we put 8 people in the boat, and one ballast bag behind the motor. Everyone piled on one side.

Boat ran like a champ. Monday we had 6 people in the boat and ran two bags on either side of the motor. Great surf wave and a great wakeboard wave. Both the speedos now work too. One pickup was clogged a little bit, the other one was packed with mud. It took a small drill bit and air pressure to blow it out.

Looks like everyone's having great times back on the water.

I began the long weekend with a blow-out on the trailer (a sign of the weekend to come)

Cracked the nose on my Walker surfboard, must have hit debris

Not sure what happened to the surfboard I made a couple seasons ago, but found water under the epoxy/glass, and de-lamination

Soooo, Friday I was just running through all my boating necessities to make sure I was safe and legal for a 4 days of Chain of lakes. somehow my stern light was not working. I had no time and no meter to trouble shoot the short so.......I grabbed a solar powered lawn light off the lawn, bingo bango I have a working stern light. I also used a spot light for safety but wanted to make sure I was 100% legal, lol!

Same board we have but haven't been able to turn loose of the rope yet - out just two days so far. I would'a thought we'd be surfin' without the rope by now!

How much ballast are you running? Those pics of me is with the MAX that I can run with my bootleg 13x13 prop. I need to get a 13x10.5 and I can REALLY throw down some weight

ski locker 450 realistically prolly 250
under seat 750 really prolly 450
side of motor 850
stacked on 850 was a 750
bow was a 1400# with about 400 or so
1 kid sitting on bags and the other in corner on seat.
My wife driving.

We have ran way less though and drop the rope.
