Want to get an extra (probably 2) plug just in case I forget to put it in and then drop one in a panic. Have a 2009 21V - anyone got an online source to order such a part? I've done some google searching but not sure exactly what the part is called and not getting any success.

you talking about a drain plug right? i picked up an extra at a local marine store, though it needs an O ring, and I believe people have posted something about them being 1/2" or 3/4" NPT.

Here's one right on amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081S3Z32/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2/190-5603072-3370222?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_r=1QACSTD6V45W9RW8T63W&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_i=B002A35ER4

Skidim probably has them, or Bakes. Or you can just use the amazon link above.

Yah the rear drain plug - the one you forget to put in and your boat sinks :)

I'm 2 hours away from the nearest boat/marine store, so it's hard to shop. I'm not sure if threads are standard and mine has 0-ring which the one from amazon does not. I have zero interest in getting the wrong one and ending up with water coming in my boat ...

Sent an email to skidim to see if they have one. thanks for that. If I get a link I'll post back.

Go to you local hardware store. It's a bronze pipe plug. $3-$4

Well we don't have any of those things on our boat .... and maybe I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be, but mine has an o-ring on it, so I don't think it's just a garden variety screw-on brass pipe plug.

It is pap. NPT stands for national pipe threading and is universal. You can get o rings at any hardware store, lowes or HD or a mom-and-pop shop.

Trust us on this!!

Why don't you just call that marine shop and ask if they have on with an o-ring and have them ship it to you? It'd be lik $3.

You can also just get a rubber expansion plug. WalMarts in my area have them in the "boating" section behind automotive.

I don't know what you guys have on your boats, but mine is definitely not a standard brass part - note the o-ring that lies within a little channel past the end of the threads.

If you get one or two without an O-Ring, your boat isn't going to sink. My 1985 doesn't have an O-Ring and it still floats. Here's a link to a plug that looks similar to yours, without the o-ring, though I would recommend getting one with the T-Handle so it's easier to operate.

I actually think that's the wrong size, so disregard that, most likely a 3/4" is what you're looking for.

Maybe I'm just being dumb, but if there is no O-ring then how in the world does it not fill with water. Threads do not create a seal (hence the need for teflon tape with house fittings).

My drain plug, along with many others I've seen, don't have rubber seals.

The NPT pipe thread is tapered. When the two parts are threaded together the threads essentially seal. If you are really worried about it not sealing without the o-ring, you can use some pipe dope or teflon tape in conjunction with the NPT thread.

That looks perfect, except the handle will definitely not clear the wakeplate :(

LOL, except that one doesn't have the o-ring. I know I'm told it doesn't matter, but to my simple mind it wouldn't be there if Supra didn't want it there.

I've sent an email to skier's choice, but haven't heard back yet. I feel really silly about taking this much time and effort for something that appears so simple, but since mine looks different than everything else I've seen I'm trying to match what came with the boat.

The one on bakes did have an o ring. Lol I can't believe there's so many responses on this topic. I'm going to send you one pap, pm me your address! Haha

to be safe I always wrap a bit of teflon tape around the threads before hand. Cheap insurance

He's just buying extras to have in the boat in case he forgets to put the first one in and then drops it in the water in a scramble. So I'm guessing there's no extra time for tape lol
