Hey kids I did a search and didn't turn up anything. This winter the black pearl is getting another face lift. New color, interior, wiring, stereo, engine, prop, floor, stringers and ballest system. I'm done with the black I think. It was cool but the novelty has worn off.

Anyways has anyone used that composite wood from Home Depot thats used for decking? It's water proof and suppose to be really durable. Any thoughts?

Also thinking of doing the hull in a WWII P-40 Warhawk theme. Something like this pic. What you guys think?

I dont think the composite deck is strong enough to use for stringers it doesn't even stay straight on a deck.
I like the P40 theme it will either be really good or a complete disaster though.

As far as the P-40 it's a gamble but I have 15+ years of custom paint and body work so I have that part covered, to pull it off the focus will be in the details lol. My only thought is getting Olive green material for the seats. I'm thinking Olive and Beige with black accents for the interior and matching hull + tower. I came up with the idea yesterday while floating in the water. The way my hull sits in the water I thought "man the jaws on the front would look killer" Thats when I thought of the P-40.

Close but no cigar. They tried but not even remotely what I have in mind. I went close to over the top with the black but I'm thinking full on custom this go round. . Whatever I do it will be OLD meets NEW. I have some good ideas for the next round. Less 80's and more 2000'ish I'm thinking.

I learned ALOT from the first resto. Things that I wished I had thought of that I can implent this next time......

would be interesting to see what steve decided to go with:
https://forum.supraboats.com/showthread.php?10396-replace-wood-stringers-with-solid-plastic-deck-molding&highlight=deck+boards

composite deck boards don't have a great reputation. and that's out in the sun exposed and dry. stick em in a harsher environment and i can't imagine they do any better. a big gamble to risk have to re-do everything.

search prisma pre-forms and go REAL composite. i called but never got to the point of getting a price. too confusing...for me.

Salty, thanks for digging that up. I'll stick with wood. It has lasted this long it will last again. Way to many "if's" for me.

I do know that I'll be the only one out on the lakes I frequent. Hell I haven't seen an all black boat out here but I know I wasn't the first to do that either. It's all in the details my friend.

Does anyone know what the degree/angle of our drivelines are 15* or close to that I hope? I got something cooking for the off season. First person to guess gets a dinner at Chucky Cheese lol.

i believe the strut is 14 degree.. Seems im a little late to this party, but just to weigh in on the comp deck deep homo product, my and my customer's (friggin warranty and word of mouth advertising lol) experience with composite decking has been less then desirable. To the extend of not being able to have the depot get me Eon's product after it delamed under warranty cuz they went belly up......Wood is good...If we're still surfin that thing 30 yrs from now, rotted out 2nd gen stringers will be a warm welcome!!!!
