drive shaft water leak

I had the boat out yesterday and a steady drip was coming in the coupler here. I know it is supposed to have some, but it seemed a bit much. can I just tighten this big nut in the picture or do I have to repack anything inside. It was all new in 07.

usually you can just tighten those two nuts.

The inner nut is a lock nut. Loosen it all the way back, and then turn the outer one clockwise until it is hand tight. See if that slows the leak. If not torque it a little more with a wrench, only a quarter turn or so, you don't want it too tight. If that doesn't slow it down then buy some new packing material and replace everything.
