Wake The World Events - Get out and DO IT!

Earlier this week I had the chance to participate in one of 20 Wake The World events that are being held across the country this year. We met at Badin Lake in North Carolina to provide over 100 kids the opportunity to participate in various water sports. More importantly, we gave them an opportunity to see that they can overcome their fears and obstacles to achieve their goals through perseverence, at a time in their lives when so many of these kids are making important decisions concerrnig their future. Here are just a few pics that were taken at the event.

UNFORTUNATELY, NOT TOO MANY KIDS WERE ABLE TO GET UP ON THE WAKEBOARDS AT THIS EVENT . . . :(

We also just participated in Wake the World Oregon on Monday. It was a moving experience. There were 24 boats there and to see the smiles on these kids faces was priceless. I strongly encourage you all to look into a local event. I will see if I can dig up a link to some pics......

Haugy, it's up to us to organize these events in our area. Man, it's such good stuff giving those kids a chance to do what we take for granted. I'm ready to do it again - its that addicting! Check it www.waketheworld.org for a schedule of events.

Diggs - so glad you did it! I saw the pics on Jon Currier Photography facebook site as well as Vince's. Looks like it was an awesome time! The judge that is responsible for a lot of these kids ( mostly troubled teens) stopped by the West Virginia event and said he had never seen most of the kids smile or even talk before. He was simply elated by what we were doing.

Things like this make us sit back and realize how lucky we truly are. Clint is right, all you have to do is attend one event and you will be hooked for life! Whats better than boating? Easy, sharing your passsion with others. Some of these kids dont know what passion is, until they experience somebody shwoing them. It is amazing, absolutely life changing and perception altering. If you are involved in giving back to your community than take a moment to pat yourself on the back for doing your community a great service.
