My 89 Pirata takes on a lot of water when we are using her. I figured the prop shaft bushing was bad. But while I was looking around underneath of her I noticed the Rudder has a lot of play. So I am guessing the bushing needs replaced on the rudder. Is the kit on skidim.com all I need, I could only find one listed, is that the correct one for me? Is there somewhere else that sells what I need? I have been happy with Skidim, just want to make sure I have what I need before I take it apart.

What is stamped on the surface of the rudder? And do you have a grease port on the top of it? There are two different kinds and ski-dim only sells the non-greased one (pretty sure I have that right?) TitanTN has a great thread on it that you can find by searching.....

I have noticed the same issue with my Pirata, i called Supra dealer and they told me a little play is normal and there are no bushings, brass shaft on the brass box. I was thinking about making a delron sleeve this winter. Mines an 89 if that helps with rudder ID and no grease fitting.

What is considered a little play? I would say the bottom probably moves about 1/2 an inch when I push on it. It is an 1989 also.

1/2" is a LOT of play! Take some photos and we can help you identify what you need to do to rebuiild it?

the dealer I talked to said 1/4 to 1/2 was still acceptable. Id like to get to the bottom of this and get some more responsive steering.
