Brightwork - 86 Sunsport

As I continue my restoration - most of the brightwork is pitted (steering column cover, cleats, side vents). Anyway to address this before replacing outright?

Most of these items are chromed and can be (somewhat) cleaned up with some aluminum foil. The side vents are probably plastic and should just be replaced. The steering column cover is (I think) aluminum and can be polished with steel wool followed with aluminum polish.
