So, venting here a bit. My Mom has been struggling with some health issues...first thought to be anemia, but may be other things. She has been to the primary care doctor so many times and then there's the referrals. Every time there is a referral situation it is weeks on end to figure it all out and not much for results. Last week they went to a cardiologist to get checked out and the doc wanted an EKG. They wouldn't approve it right away and it was going to be weeks again. My Mom is at the point where she has struggled with being tired and weak, dealth with swelling issues, various meds haven't worked well and caused more problems, and now she is dealing with dizziness, even without activity. The beauracracy of an HMO type plan is extremely frustrating. My Dad had enough and took her to the ER the other day and now she is in the hospital. Her potassium levels are extremely high, among other things. There are concerns about her kidneys and her heart. My Dad sounded like he was at his wits end today when I talked to him and it has certainly rubbed me the wrong way.

This is a bit of a vent of frustration and a bit of a request. Please pray for her and our family (or good thoughts, vibes, whatever you do). I really hope it will work out and they will figure things out and get her better. I'm certainly not ready to lose my moms, although I don't think it's THAT bad. I'm about as frustrated as my Dad and don't like the situation. I despise the fact they have to constantly seek approval for things and can't go right to specialists.

Prayers for your mom brother. Tough situation for sure. My Grandmother has been having all sorts of medical issues here lately and the dealing with her Healthcare Professionals has been frustrating to say the least. The docs just keep saying, well she's just old without wanting to actually diagnose the problem. Luckily after years of trying different doctors we have found one who really takes a personal interest I'm his patients. He is not a miracle worker but at least we have found someone who we trust with her life.

Prayers and best wishes to your family.

The kidney doc visited Saturday...stage four kidnet disease. They got our potassium levels down and sent her home. From here forward, they need to continue keeping her potassium levels down and see what they're going to do with the kidneys. No specific prognosis on the kidneys yet.

Our system isn't full of red tape...but since it's all free people who don't really need care seek it and it causes delays. The other problem is that many of our doctors leave for the US to get higher pay so we have a shortage. Both systems have flaws, but at least here we aren't denied care.

Rant point...every single time i have been to the ER, I have wanted to walk around and tell people to go home...seriously, you have the flu, go see your doctor and stop wasting ER resources.

Hang in there OKIE

I hate Doctor's, I hate health care and I hate insurance companies. I also hate to hear all thats going on with your situation. I understand how complicated the system is, but its a necessary evil to deal with, I guess.

As for those who think Obama care is horrible, I say, smh.....atleast I can get healthcare now. For years I have been denied any insurance because of pre-existing conditions. Nobody will ever be happy with healthcare or government and it will never be fair for any side.

Praying for your Mom and your family. There's a lot more power in prayer than there is in medicine (not that I don't take my medicine).

I which you all the best. Prayers for you too. Being in that situation. Health care is one of the biggest concern in this country. Have you heard about the Obama care yet?

Thanks...she is getting better, but really has to watch things due to the potassium level concerns. Haven't heard anything about OC, but they don't change their enrollment in MC until October.
