Does anyone know (or have record of) the right impeller for the 454?

I replaced mine almost exactly a month ago with Johnson Part #10615K

Here I am... 4 weeks to the day and it went out again.

Not sure how it would work 10+ days and then on the 11th decide to give it up? My only thought is that I purchased the incorrect part??

go with a globe silicon impeller. you can run em' dry and they dont care. ours is 15+ years old. we replaced it this year cause its a little softer than the new one. plus. they are only about $30.

Impellers are not engine specific, they are pump specific...so what pump do you have?

No idea!! I've never seen any marks or numbers on it? I guess I might have to look more closely. I was hoping to order an impeller so that I could get back on the water today or tomorrow. 100F temperatures does not make it fun to work on the boat, though!

Did it come in a package or have a part number on it? I'd like to find it locally or get it shipped next day through Amazon.... SkiDim usually takes too long for me to get or charges crazy NDA prices.

Reading about these right now. I don't see a downside. Cheaper and less prone to failure? I believe that I'm going to give this a try!!

Also, if you have a decent nearby auto parts store, they may be able to cross-reference the PCM part # (e.g. RPxxxxxx) and find one for you quickly. I know NAPA carries the Sherwood impeller (PCM # RP061015, Sherwood #09959K) as Napa # SME183060, for example.

Good tip! The PCM # for mine is RP061017 (found it on an old SkiDim order.) Cooresponds to Napa # SME 183061

The one for the 454 is Globe #625

This site allows you to look at the Globe impellers and cross-reference them with OEM impeller numbers. http://www.boatersland.com/glb625.html

I'm having one of those next-day aired.

Yep, mine would be a Globe 620. Interesting... although I replaced mine this spring, so maybe next season. I'm curious just to see and feel one in person, I might order one anyway.

awesome, why do more of us not know about this...hate arbitrarily changing impellers every year "just in case"

the globe impellers are made in USA!!! and good job on finding the site. for some reason it can be a prick to find. also. the old impeller had a nice brass insert with key-way. the new one sadly i think is a blend of plastics or something. it has the tiniest bit more play than the 15 year old brass center one.(took me a long while to notice) so for now the three boats that we have just put new silicon globe impellers in we are going to check at the beginning and end of each year to see how the new style insert holds up. but hopefully they will be just fine as they have been making these for a long time and still bring in excellent reviews/ratings. all though i am going to be writing them about this change...
