On my 1989 Supra Mariah 351 PCM with a 1:1 velvet drive. Kept dieing when going into gear, forward and reverse.

It would stay running if the idle was turned up to 1100 to 1200 RPM's.

I rebuilt the carb last year, the electronic conversion is 5 years old, services the transmission last year mid season, replaced the strut bearing, plugs, wires and still the same problem.

It ran great above idle, would pull up two 175 pound wake boarders at once, top speed was there and would still die below 1100 RPM's.

The problem THE COIL :p Replaced it and now 700 rpm in gear. It was very frustrating, so check all the small things before you give up, At least there is still allot of summer left
