90 sunsport with 240hp pcm backfired saturday and towards the end of the day would not run smooth @ low rpm , secondarys where pulled in @ high rpm and seemed to run out smooth, gear heads @ work say older holley has power valve and could have blown. Any Ideas????

I refuse to put it away if it is not running right , Ive seen to many boats not get back out because they needed work!

The guys @ work are correct. Normaly if a holley backfires it can blow the power valve. You can pick one up @ most local auto parts stores. They are a low cost item and fairly easy to install. good luck!

If the carb has never been rebuilt or rebuilt a long time ago, you might as well rebuild the whole thing. Gaskets and seals rip when you take the carb apart to get to the power valves. Complete kits at skidim.com for $30.00.
