Seized rudder cable

I am 99% sure the rudder cable has seized up on my 90 Conbrio. It worked fine last weekend when I cleaned the boat out. But now I have no movement at all. Is there any way of lubricating the cable in order to free it up. I can feel the cable flexing at the steering wheel but nothing at the rudder itself.

Could have just jammed up in the helm; wiggle the rudder good and hard a couple times with it all hooked up. You can disconnect the rudder from the cable and see if that moves on its own.

How old is the cable in there? Is it red? If so, it's probably old, most are black now.
