Dimming/Turning Off Vision Screen?

I had several night rides this weekend, and my Vision screen was way too bright.

Is there a way to simply turn off the display?

I went into the user settings where "auto" dimming is either enabled or disabled, but I could not get it adjust the slider bar below. I tried it with the Nav lights on and off.
Finally, I just stuck a piece of paper in front of it. This was a good temporary solution, but not how i'd like to proceed.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.
