Well I'm starting my rebuild today and plan to finish tomorrow.

I have a couple of question right out of the shoot....

When I called SKIDIM, they gave me the part number for the rebuild kit and a gasket... but when I open the rebuild kit, there is a gasket that looks just like the one i ordered:

secondly, is there a gasket for this instead of using RTV? if so, did it come in the kit?

Aren't both of your questions related...maybe the second gasket is for where the rtv is? I might be wrong though...so hopefully someone who knows for sure pipes up.

Cheers

I thought that too but the allen bolts don't line up with the spacer. You can see in the second pic where the carb bolts to it.

Is that an OEM spacer? I'm not sure it is. Also it looks like a wedge.

It looks to me that you have a spread boar intake with an adapter for your square boar carb.

If you pull the adapter off I would bet you will find the rear holes in the intake a bit wider than the front.

Take it to your local parts store you should be able to match it up.

Don't use those gaskets on your carb. Your intake has a spread bore Quadrajet pattern. The wedge spacer adapts the QJ pattern to a standard square bore Holley pattern. You need one open Quadrajet carb base gasket (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-56A/) and one open square bore Holley gasket (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-54/).

Do not use a 4 hole gasket on a divided plenum/split adapter like I believe you have. You can suck the gasket down the intake. You can cut/trim as necessary though to make them fit. Personally I prefer the thicker rubbery gaskets as they seal better. If you have a like sander I'd recommend line sanding both sides of that wedge spacer. Mine was all sorts of warped with plenty of high and low spots. Failing that you can use a piece of sandpaper over a good flat block of wood, or whatever you have handy for a good true flat surface.

I used one gasket between the carb and the spacer and left the RTV there for now. I will look locally to see about a gasket for the spacer. Thanks!!!
