Just wondered what others have had to pay to have covers made. The pirata needed a new cover. All I had was a cockpit cover and it wasn't very waterproof. Plus a big storm came through back in July and caught it and ripped some snaps. So I dropped it off the other day to have a cover made. They quoted me a price of $1295. I was thinking $700 but I guess I was wrong.

Depends on whether you want a generic fit or a custom fit cover. I have a generic one for the comp with cut outs for the tower feet. Cost me $300 and I can't really complain about it. I can trailer with it, it keeps the boat dry when I have it parked on the trailer, it is relatively easy to install and remove, no snaps, only downside is with the small freeboard on my boat for the one week of the year that I keep the boat on a buoy, the sides go down to the water.
I think Mapleleaf has seen my boat and cover once so he can weigh in as well on it.

1200?!?! I just had a custom cover for my Saltare and with a 5 year warrenty and he said it would last 7-10 years for 550 OTD. I have a picture somewhere I will post up in a little bit, but DONT PAY 1200! Where in Ohio are you?

1200 is way too much.

My old Mariah had a very thick vinyl sunbrella cover that wouldn't let diddle through and was custom fit for 780.

Mine is a Sunbrella Vinyl. They do make an acrylic that would cost more. Make sure you know which fabric you are getting.

I went through this 3 years ago. I checked with every local source I could find and the custom covers were all $1500 - $2000. Ended up getting one from skiboatcovers.com that fits great and has tower slits for $868.

I guess one of the benifits of living so close to the amish is all the canvas shops. If anyone is within driving distance of 46761, Larry's Canvas Shop did a great job on my cover. He would not even give me a quote till he saw the boat so I know this is not something he puilled off the shelf, but made from scratch.

It included 4 poles, he made access points to my cleats in the cover and vents at the top. It has a rope that pulls tight all the way around it for when you are towing it.

Well I guess I made a costly mistake. The shop that is doing it is the same one that did my interior. They did a good job on that so I just assumed they would be fair on the cover. Another shop had said they it would probably be around $700, but they had not seen the boat. He had a chart and priced it by the size so I just assumed since it is a big boat the price was fair. I know it will be a nice cover. Just cost me a little more than it should have. Not my first costly mistake involving this boat. lol

I paid $700 for a custom cockpit and bow two piece Sunbrella snap cover for my Saltare.
