Looking at installing some light rings on my New Rev8 Tower speakers and also my 4 new WS XS650 speakers, WS wants 150.00 a pair for tower or inside speakers, has anyone tried the ones made by Bullitline as they are alot cheaper 36.00 each for 6.5 speakers and 54.00 each for tower

Any comments on this ???

Some difference I can comment on. The Wet Sounds rings are cast poured and have a "frosted" look. The bullets are polished clear. This will allow each individual LED to be seen. Also, the strips used by Wet Sounds are 600 LEDs per 16ft roll and th last set of bullet rings I saw used 300 LEDs p/ft strips. The Wet Sounds kit has you attaching the LED strip to the inside lip of the speaker, then the ring goes on over it. This has the LEDs illuminating the ring. The Bullets state that the strip is glued to the ring. Not sure how that effects the lighting.

Wylie. What are you saying? The wet sounds are better or the others?

My goal was to just offer some differences and let those reading along decide for themselves.

For the Wet Sounds tower speakers, I use their rings as the fit and finish is equaled by no other. They even provide the longer screws needed for the added depth of the rings. IF Bullet is still using the 300 p/ft, then thats half as many LEDs per strip as the Wet Sounds strips. Theres only a $42.00 difference between the WS and the Bullet

For in-boats and subs, I have a local guy cut my acrylic rings for me. Some customers want them polished clear and some frosted. Each is a completely different look. The Wet Sounds tower rings are cast poured, so they have an opaque/frosted look. This defuses the light. A polished ring will allow for each LED pod to be seen through the ring, where as a defused ring offers a more uniform glow.

You can absolutely not go wrong with the Wet Sounds rings.

If you feel like a DIY and winter project you could fabricate some. I remember seeing a thread where someone cut acrylic rings out of a sheet, then glued in a flexible LED strip to make it glow. They had the whole thing screwed in in-between the speaker can and speaker grill just like all the other ones. Depends on how much you want to spend and how bored you are I guess lol

If you look on Wet Sounds website, you will see the difference between the 600 LED strip and the 300 LED strip used by Bullet. You can also be rest assured that the Wet Sounds Rev rings with fit perfectly.

BulletLines claims their light rings contain 32 LEDs per foot. Not true. There are six 2" segments per foot with 3 LEDs per segment. So for those rings I count 18 LEDs per foot...not 32.
Go with the Wetsounds rings for sure.

I know it's an old thread. But Isn't it true 3528SMD comes with 600 LED and 5050SMD got 150/300 LED strips. Also, I think 5050 has 3 LED chips in one housing and a lot brighter than individual 3528 LED chips. Again, I might be wrong.

Youve probably discovered the answer by now, but i'll share for those fallowing along. The "3528" and "5050" denote the size of the LED pod and does not dictate the number of LED pods per foot. A 3528 is a 3.5MM x 2.8MM LED and the 5050 is a 5.0MM x 5.0MM LED pod. Most of the commonly found single color 5M strips are an 8MM wide strip and are fitted with the 3528 LED pods. Most of the commonly found RGB strips are the larger 5050 and come on a 10MM wide strip. Although not as common, there are some single color 5050's. Single color 3528 8MM wide strips can be found in 150 count p/5M strip, 300 count p/5M strip and 600 count p/5M strip. RGB 5050 10MM wide strips can be found in 300 count p/5M strip and 600 count p/5M strip. Never looked to see if RGB's come in 150 count, so dont take it as they dont.
