Looking for a replacement alternator for my '85 PCM 351 motor. It had a Motorola 8MR2051F alternator on it but over the last storage period the alternator turned into a big hunk of corrosion. Plus I think it to be only a 37 amp unit to begin with. I've seen the Prestolite 8MR2051FA listed out there but was wondering if there are more units that cross refference also that are more available. Thoughts??

Oh and I guess my starter will need replaced too. Any advice on good models would be great too.

When replacing electronic parts on marine motors, be sure they are stamped with the Coast Gaurd approval SAEJ1171. This means the components will not emit sparks. Call Vince at Discount Inboard Marine @ (803)345-0996, or visit; www.skidim.com. They have original equipment replacement parts. Brian Raymond

Just Google "marine parts", you'll find plenty of places to buy parts aftermarket. Skidim is definitely one of the best though.
