We are picking up a new 24SSV tomorrow, and I was wondering if a brake controller was needed in the tow vehicle to operate the trailer brakes, or if they were inertia-activated and didn't need a controller.

Thanks

Congrats on your new boat. Be sure to post pics in the pride & joy section. To answer your question, you dont need a controller. The brakes are surge brakes and are activated by a master cylinder in the coupler.

You will need to hook up the 5-flat harness that comes with your trailer owner's packet in order to back your trailer. You can use the lock out key that comes in the owner's packet until you get the harness installed, but the harness will make life much easier. If you need info, e-mail me at [email protected] or call 865-273-1100. Congrats on the boat. Enjoy!
