Hey my buddy really likes my boat, but isnt ready to drop the coin. Is there a hull from the 80s/early 90s that is the same or comparable to the launch 21?

there is .... make a post on WW and those guys will give you more response, but there are some with pretty much the same hull or very similar anyway.
Supra Beast was one of them. Do a search on WW. It had some other names too, but WW will help you more than this site. Good luck

Tell him to find a Supra Mariah or a Saltaire, both have the guzzling 454, but it is only money

Have him check out the Supra Sunsport. The sunsport evolved into the original Launch DD which evoled into the current Launch 21 and 21V. The sunsports can be found in many price ranges depening on year, hull and vinyl condition, and floor/stringer condition.

1992 or 1993 was when they changed to fiberglass floor and stringers

Sal's can have the 454, but I think all Mariahs have a 350/351...

my buddies dad had a Saltaire, but I think it has a 350..... I believe you might have been able to choose on that modle.

The early Mariahs had the 454 as an option.

I'm almost positive they stopped putting big blocks in Mariahs in '92 when PCM came out with the 351 HO Pro Boss with GT40 heads with 285hp. With that motor, which is plenty for the boat, the big block probably just didnt make any sense.

my '91 has the 351. Not sure about the HO Pro Boss- that still could have been in '92. I have Power-Plus (whatever that is) writing on the cover.

I believe PCM was using the Power Plus to describe their transmission. Check to see if you have the 1:1 or 1:1.23 transmission.

The gear ratio will be stamped on a metal tag on the transmission along with the tranny serial number. The 5.8 Pro Boss has a plastic cover that fits over the flame arrestor that says 5.8 Pro Boss on it.

Thanks.

I have a plastic cover over the Arrestor.. but it doesn't say Pro boss.

says PCM- Power Plus.. not sure what else.. Going from a pic I had taken of the engine and just took a look at it.
