I read that soaping your bunks is a good idea to help the boat slide better on them. Anybody here ever done it? If I'm on a steep ramp it's a little difficult to get the boat all the way forward as far as it needs to be w/o drowning the trailer.

Soap, or a product called Liquid Rollers will help. For me, I like backing the trailer all the way in so that about 2 feet of the front of the bunks are still sticking out. I drive right up the bunks and the boat is held in place until you connect the winch to finish off the remaining 6 inches or so until it's snug to the trailer.

Thanks, I have no winch. It's all drive on then straps. I apply the 2' rule with the bunks too, unless it's a really steep ramp. Then I have to practically back the truck into the water to get the old boy on there far enough.

The best was is after the bunks are wet, spray them with Armor All & let dry. Your boat will push off with one finger. The first time I sprayed mine, I had to swim out to my boat.

Good tips, I think I'll try the Armor All.

The Armor All works great. Simple and inexpensive solution. I bought a spray bottle of AA for less than $3.

I'd be terrified the bow strap would break and the boat would end up on the pavement. This happened to one of my friend's bass boat.

Not likely with my Saltare'. I have two 2500lb test straps on the nose ring and the way it sits in the bunks it's not likely to come off unless the law of gravity is suspended.:)

Gee, maybe we could market this stuff to the PWC riders?

I launched the Saltare' last night with the bunks treated. It loads and unloads MUCH easier than before. I can't see it coming off the trailer other than in the water. I had it ready to go, trailer down in the water and could not push it off.
