I am new to the site but not to Supra's. I have an '86 sunsport now but looking to update. I am going to look at a 2005 21V this weekend. It seems to be a good price, depending on the interior. Pictures of the hull look good but need to look at it with my own eyes. My questions is any serious flaws with yer boat? I saw the thread in the other area about water under the ski locker but wondered about anything else. It has 590 hours on it so what do people think about the amount of hours. By my calculations that is about 5 hours a weekend where I live. What kind of hours do you have on your boats. I look forward to hearing from everyone.
Thanks,
Greg

In my part of the country 100 hours a year is about the norm. As long as it was maintained I would have no issues with 590 hours.

Thanks Taco. I am going to ask if they have any maintenance records. Hopefully it is what they say it is mechanically.

I average about 40-50 hours a year over the last two years with the boat. Though the past two years were crazy with so many other things on the calendar. I wouldn't be concerned about 590 hours as long as it was taken care of and not run ragged.

My 1990 has 295 hours on it. :D

My old 1990 Mariah had 700.

My 1989 Comp had over 850.

I'd say that boat has had some good usage. Make sure that ALL the electrical works on it. The boats in those year ranges were susceptible to electrical problems.

My '93 has over 900 hours which figures out to be ~45 hours/year. Not bad for a 20 year old boat!! If you have any reservations about the motor and there is no documentation regarding maintenance, do a compression test on it. If you don't have 12" of ice on your lakes like I do, get the boat out and test it on the water.

Thanks everyone. It will be chilly but it is supposed to be 50 degrees for the test drive. It is hard to look at the hours since my Sunsport only has about 400 hours on it (second owner), so i figure the years will catch up with the hours at my rate of use. I will look into all the electrical during the drive. It is at a dealer and they are trying to sell it for a guy that wants a new one. I hope to talk to the owner as well if they did not do the maintenance.
