I have an 89 comp with the dreaded stringer rot. This boat has 490 hours, always garaged, fresh rebuilt carb, PCM 351w Always used Mobile 1 synthetic. all skis jackets stero, amps, and sub goes with the boat. Skylon, 4 blade prop and original 3 blade. If I can find someone who is interested in the repair I might fix it. Any recommendations? We love this boat and don't want to sell it. But the repairs may be to much for us to spend. If you are interested in the repair please call me. If you are interested in pictures or purchase please text or call. The boat is located in central Ca.

Hi Sean,

Why are you asking $4000 here, but are asking $3000 elsewhere?

So Joe Schmoe gets it for less, but here at Supra, we should pay more?

Do you have pictures of this Comp?

Nope I would let it go to anyone for 3000, and I think that is fair 4 is a negotiable # as in 4000 obo. I can email or text pics as stated in the original post Thank you for looking

I'm gonna get in trouble for this, but if you claim dreaded stringer rot on a 24 yr. old boat, how is it worth $4k? There's no market for a boat you can't use unless you hide that important fact from Joe Schmoe.

Put some stringers in it and then double your money.

That being said bottom dollar would be 3000. fair? Maybe to someone who has done the repair for themself already.Someone who has owned a supra and loves the boat. Maybe someone knows where they can have it done for a good price. I have a quote for 4g to repair the floor and stringers. From a local race boat builder. Predicting he can do it in 40 hours. I can see it may take much longer and at that point upwards 5g @75 an hour might be over the top for me. If anyone knows someone that has done this boat in NorCal please share his # I don't want to fix and turn this boat. If I fixed her I would keep her.

Here is the Comp, I'm assuming the OP won't mind.

To the seller, where is the swim platform? What are the stress cracks from? Impact? Lifting?

Swim platform is removed so the boat will fit in my garage. As far as the stress cracks shown in the pictures that I provided you I have owned the boat for 17 years a family member was the original purchaser of the boat. The boat has never been lifted since it was purchased the only impact the boat has had was trailering one time I poped the cap trim off. There is a gel coat rub on the bottom from impact with the ground also damaged my prop and the brass coupler which has all been replaced I change oils the points the water separator Impellor last summer I had the carb rebuilt at the marine service that is the history of the boat

I just completed a stringer job last may on a comp that i bought....i paid 2800 for it and that was too much. For yours i think a FAIR price for seller and buyer would be 2k-2500 since it seems to be taken care of. Either swallow that the boat isn't worth what you think, fix it yourself for about 3k or let it sit and keep rotting.

If I could get it fixed for 3 k I would keep it. Where did you have It done? Are you happy with the end result ? We love the boat and it would be worth 3k to me thanks for the input

He's saying that you can do the labor yourself and have about $3k in materials. If you have any handyman skills, it's not overly complicated. It just takes a place to do the work and plenty of time. For anyone who is willing to attempt it, there are plenty of guys who have done it on this forum and are willing to give advice.

This looks like a really nice boat, but I'm afraid you're not going to get $3k for it. If you're willing to do the work yourself, you'll end up making the boat appreciate more than what you have in it. Or you may be able to pay someone to do it and at least you'll have a like new boat that will last you as long as you want to own it. The only way to get $3k out of it as it sits is to part it out, and I'd hate to see that happen to such a beautiful comp.

I agree, it's a great looker. Just needs some surgery. I wouldn't give $3000 for that boat as it sits.

But I'd definitely put $3000 in it to save it. There are a lot of people who have done it here, and tons of information. If you go for it, we'll help you through it.

I did the work myself, its not to bad just really messy and itchy. i would look around for boat shops around your area and you could probably find someone that would do it for a decent price.
