Hi Guys,
Been looking at Supras for a long time and finally bought one last weekend. Its a 1984 with 700 hrs on it. I was looking at an open bow and a closed bow. Went with the closed because I kept hearing that the open bows tend to get wet pretty easy and where I boat it can get pretty choppy. Lots of big cruisers going by etc. Interior was original and not shot but needed some updating to get rid of the "Magnum PI" stripes. So its all out getting updated.

The prop had a ding in it which created a sweet vibration, so I bought a OJ 3 blade 13x13 cause that's what was on it. I just stumbled on a brand new 4 blade 13x13 though also. With a stock motor and running at close to sea level can I turn that prop? or do I need to step down to less pitch? I'm not planning on running ballasts or anything.

Here's a couple of pics

here is what skidim tells me for my 89

OJ 13 X 16 4-bld (item #23107), OJ XMP 13 X 15.5 4-bld (Item 102005), or Acme 12.5 X 15.5 4-bld (item# 2034). The XMP & Acme are CNC machined and perfectly balanced. These props will give you better hole shot, be smoother, and it will be easier to hold your speed.

Wow I'm surprised to see them recommending more pitch. Thanks for the reply!

Nah Miami vice would be pink and teal lol! I've read enough on this site to know that no matter what condition I think the stringers are in if they havent been replaced they're probably due. They seem fine where I can inspect. There's a lot of flex on the transom when you put weight on the swim step so I'm assuming it's pulled away from the stringers. Gotta fix that ASAP.

Thank you for the compliments. As soon as I get the new interior and carpet in I'll take some pics.

Nice purchase! Magnum P.I. stripes? Not Miami Vice stripes? How's the floor and stringers?

Skidim knows what they're doing, but for a solid second opinion, you could call Nettles props. They know exactly what you need. http://www.nettleprops.com

That's a gorgeous Supra. Love the color scheme. That interior would look good with the trim piping in navy blue, the rest all white.

I was gonna go that route but the interior guy thought some stripes would look really good. We'll see.

here is what Nettles told me as well. Please note I have a 1:23 to 1 transmission which they took into account.

The Acme 422 (12.5x15.5 4B RH 1" bore) is a great prop for right hand rotation 1:23 applications.
