Wake plate question

I have a 98 legacy and was wondering for a bigger wake do you adjust the wake plate up or down? I thought it would be down but a friend of mine said up. Just wondering, thanks for the feedback.

I have one on my 83 and we move it up for a larger wake.

Yes. If you put it down it will push the rear of the boat up. If you lift it up it will allow the rear of the boat to sit lower in the water creating a bigger wake. I have mine up as far as it will go. I also took it off and cut it and put a hinge on it so it wouldn't have so much pressure on the screws, but that is my personal opinion.
