I've done a bunch of research today and messing with the wires underneath the dash trying to figure out what was wrong with my gauges in my 2000 Supra launch. When I turn the switch to the on position all my gauges wiggle a little bit and make noise then they just rest where they are. I have a medallion 1600 mdc and there's no water inside of it. Also the gauges worked when I bought the boat in October and since then I have only taken it out once (two weeks ago) and they worked sometimes and other times they didnt. But now they all just wiggle and don't work. Any suggestions?

Try jumping one of the guage's ground lug to a known good ground and see if it changes anything. Sounds like a ground issue.

How would I go about doing this? Would I cut the wire harness ground really close to the gauge and put my good ground there and see if it works? Thanks

Go buy a pack of alligator clip leads and get up under the dash. The gauges have 3 or 4 threaded studs on the back that the ground, positive and signal leads connect to. The positive and grounds daisy chain from one to the other. I think mine started on the port gauge and went around to starboard. If I remember right the positives were purple and ground was black but double check. I'd run a lead from the negative terminal on the battery to the first guage and use systematic eliminatation. Or if you can find a good ground point under the dash use that.

I had a issue with my temp guage sporatically flickering. After doing everything under the dash I found the large round connection under the main breaker hae a bad contact. But with all of them doing that I think it sounds like a ground localized un der the dash.

Hey I followed the instructions for troubleshooting on this site and found out that I need a new computer.

Stinks this little thing cost so much. Anyone know anywhere else to get one cheaper?

Am I safe to take it out tomorrow without my gauges working? It's going to take 3 weeks through bakes and my engine has always ran good no problems. Would y'all take it out?

No, doesn't the computer run the ignition also? Either way I'd pay for rush shipping instead of a new motor because that would be my luck

No it doesn't run the ignition in my boat but it might in newer models. But your right. It just stinks when it's over 80 and I want to go to the lake and I can't. Wish I would have know about this problem a few months ago haha.

We'll I am kind of bummed right now. I paid $415 bucks for a new computer and have waited to use the boat and I just hooked everything back up and the problem still continuous as before. Any suggestions? Please

Here's an example of what I am talking about.

do the needles normally peg to the right with the ignition off?

No. I don't think they should. Don't they usually peg to the left?
