Does anyone know any of the history of this boat. I just bought one, wondering years produced, hull colors etc...

The Mariah was produced from about 1987-88 to 1995-96, give or take a year on each end. The major change during the production run was in 1992 when the dash was redesigned and the squared off windshield was replaced with a curved glass one. I'm not sure of ALL of the colors available, but here's a list of the ones i've seen: Red, black, teal green, royal blue, and navy blue.

Welcome to the brand and enjoy!

Does anyone know the horsepwer on the ford 351, for the late eighties?

It depends. In the late 80's, probably 240-250. PCM made a high output model in the early 90's that had 285. There are two ways to tell: 1)The HO motor had 3.5" exhaust while the regular had 3" and (2) The HO model had GT40 heads, which made the majority of the power increase. You can tell if you have these heads if there are three lines cast into the rear of each head, whereas the regular ones only had 1 or two lines.

I've heard 230-240 in the late 80's.

But suppose it would depend on the engine in the boat/and yr.

everyone asks what my 91 Mariah does horsy wise.. and I just make it up as I go. :p

j./k - but I really don't even know for sure. I just say goes around 42mph.. and it'll get your butt outta the water real quick.

I think color wise.. they were pretty much the same as all other Sup's at that time period.

seen A pinkish one before, teal, navy blue, royal blue, Red, marooon, and even a yellow one.

Post pics of yours if you can.. Always like seeing other Mariahs and learing more about them..

Wish there was a time line or more info about some of these older boats out online somewhere.:)

Does anyone know how to decipher the VIN numbers as to what year produced? Mine has a 888 at the rear of the VIN. However the registration says 1984????
I have not registered it in my name yet? I am not sure what it may take to get this corrected… I will try and post some pics…

I can't remember off hand, but in the manual I have- it said something about the digits on the VIN number.

Will check tonight, but though you were correct- with the last digits.

Will post later after I verify.

Last two digits should be the year. If your hull shows 88 then it should be a 1988.

PCM manuals are online here... www.correctcraftfan.com/reference/

page 4 of the service manual tells you how to read the engine tag.

I think he was referring to the HIN#, not the engine serial #. I copied this key from another forum:

Here is the breakdown of a hull identification for boats built after August 1, 1984:

MMMhhhhhddyy

MMM = Manufacturer's ID code

hhhhh = hull serial number

dd = date of certification. For example "A4". The "A" stands for January. "B" would stand for February, etc.
The "4" standfs for the last digit of the year of manufacture.

yy = model year

This information came out of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's Boating Skills and Seamanship text, 11th Edition, pages 2-2 and 2-3.
