So I was cleaning up my boat today and started wondering if anyone has converted the backrest in the bow that points back to the windshield into a compartment? It seams like it would be a good place for a anchor.

The Saltare has a hatch, but let's face it, nothing can really fit down there.

My anchors are huge, they go under the bow seats. And ropes and fenders, to big. It would be a great place for a bow rope, but Supra didn't notch the wood so if you did that, then the hatch sticks up.

It's pretty much just for looks on my boat.

Don't give up on making it usable. The black ABS plastic liner under my bow storage was cracked & busted up pretty bad, so I just cut it out during the rebuild. I use it to access a folded box anchor, and bow & dock ropes. My bow rope has a s/s carabiner on the end, so it's easy to pull out and clip on the eye when needed. Small items would easily get lost down there since it's a direct shot to under the playpen, but the anchor and ropes seem to stay put.
