Yes, this has been a nightmare. I did the bench at the end of last year and that was a cake walk compared to this. It would not have been so bad if the old wood had not totally evaporated. More pics to follow

Ran into the same issue when I redid my doghouse base, changed one angle ever so slightly to adjust around something on the engine, every angle had to be revisited.

How do you get that curve in on the sides?

I built the base out of 3/4 plywood, then the backs as well. I mitered them with a jig saw. The curved sides are out of 1/4 so they are alot more flexible, but still a giant pain.

to get the curves to sit and stay where you want them i used water and heat and then put T-nuts 10-8 i believe was the thread pitch and all you do is hammer those babies in and through bolt ..but getting under the bow seats was like yoga !! lol .. looks good .. mine still doesn't quite fit perfect but it is I that only know the flaws ..

I saw your post the other day and was like "DANNg that was smart". It would have been way eaiser that way, but i'm using my original vinyl since its still in decent enough shape. During this process I also finally replaced my original tape deck with a new clarion marine unit. I got some new kicker marine 6.5"s last year too. Holy cow what a difference, its so much louder and clearer.

I just finished rebuilding the wood portion, and put the first coat of resin on last night. 12212

how much time do you have into building the whole thing?

Hard to say, I started the Friday before last and finished last night. I would say about 20-25 hours. If my old one was in better shape it would have gone better. But since I did'nt have a template for a couple hey pieces, I had to guess and make them out of cardboard first.

I put a fresh coat of teak oil on the teak and bolted it on last night.
