Is there anything special I need todo to the motor before having the cam installed? Or will it run just fine?

I would go with the stock cam.

Any reason for the swap? The pcm 351 had an ho cam from the factory which has the best lift/duration

Just read that it would help with torque. Is there some better up grades I should do then?

The RV cam will more than likely work in a negative way. Boat engines are designed to create power under full loads, where automotive is more free wheel applications. If you are looking for power a better place to play is with the prop or electronic parts.

ok thank you. What about electronic ignition and which one is a good one to go with? im new to this boating world. I bought a 1990 sunsport and had the stringers redone and now the interior is at the shop. The motor is out of the boat so im trying to get it fixed up before reinstalling it. Any advice will be appreciated.

I used Petronix. Fairly cheap, easy install and there tech support was very helpful.
