What it is, is I have a 12 inch prop and it is a 1/4 from the bottom of my boat. Acme says this distance should be 1 inch and the prop should be a 13 inch ?????????
So if I shimmed the strut and then realigned the trans and motor would it fix the issue or is this not a good idea.
By the way when I purchased the boat last year it was like this and I burned the gel coat pulling a stranded boater 10 miles to the docks that is how I noticed the issue at hand. LOL

Any ideas?????? Help Please

That sounds really weird. I'm wondering if the prop shaft was replaced with the wrong length (Too short) and then they put a small prop on to make up for it. Do you know if the strut is original?

How far in front of your rudder is your prop shaft end?

I'm not sure and Ski Supreme wont call me back. I got this boat last year. The prop is stamped 13X12 so I assume they had the prop cut down. How far away from the rudder should the prop be?

I believe it is at least 5inches.

I wish there was someone with the same boat I could get pics of to see what it should be.

I believe it is at least 5inches.

Not near my boat but having 5 inches spacing between prop and rudder, I'm pretty sure your prop shaft isn't long enough.

i agree...should be more like 2". just enough to wiggle the prop off the shaft at an odd angle.

Well that would just about do it I think. I do know that my prop is almost up against the strut. I am going to measure tomorrow and I will post the results. Thank you guys for the help. And dont forget to tune in tomorrow. LOL

Ok I talked to the Fineline guy Mike Sanchez. He said they made a 210 Medalist in 1999 and those measurements were a 13x13 prop, 46 3/4 x 1 1/8 shaft. Mine is stamped 13x12 1/2 and my shaft is stamped 48.1 and is 1 inch. But measuring from the center of the shaft to blade tip is 6 inches this prop has been cut down. So what changed that is the question and how do I fix it?

Looks like someone could have put the wrong prop on? Maybe find a factory prop and see where everything lines up. If you need a shaft contact skidim.com they have a guy who builds whatever length you need. I had to buy a longer shaft for my boat due too installing the engine to far forward after my stringer job. I can't remember the distance that you are suppose to maintaine between the prop and the shaft. If I was on my computer I would pull it up. Try searching google for correct distance between prop and strut on a inboard. It looks like the prop could be wrong though.

I have been told the distence from the rear of the strut to the prop should be no more than the diameter of the shaft and no less than 1/2 in. If this is true then the shaft length I have is right.

Yes that is it I remember now, might look at a different prop though. I'm not a expert with props so I really don't know what could help you.

I would say that prop is way to far forward. Here is a link to a good photo of a Moomba.

Now that looks better. I agree something is wrong with mine. Right now the Fineline guy is working with me on this and hopefully soon we will get it figured out. I am thinking that the prop, shaft and strut got damaged and was replaced (strut) with the wrong one. jmo
