I tried searching this but no luck, has anyone installed rollers under their prob guard to prevent scraping etc?

I have thought about it before, but I haven't yet.

Nope, no need really as there is only one driveway I come close to scraping my prop guard on and I rarely visit that location anymore. Try an angle approach and departure if you're worried about it. Works for me pretty much everywhere I go.

Mines too steep. Angled approaches don't help. Thought about putting a straight axle on it. That would give 5-6"

Are your springs worn and sagging?

No they are fine

I ripped mine off on a steep incline. I replaced it with tubular steel but no rollers. I kind of wish I had done some rollers but oh well.

That's what I'm afraid of. Were I'm at even the gas stations have inclines and I drag

Post some photos of your trailer. You might be able to flip your u-bolts to the other side of the axle to get a few inches.

I used to scrape coming out of my driveway but new leaf springs helped a lot at the end of last year.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE FOR YOU

Yes, thanks! Regardless if the springs are a lil warn, seems like these would be beneficial to have IMO. Did your trailer come with those?

I've towed mine many miles and never had any issues. Perhaps your geometry of the hitch WRT the tow vehicle could be adjusted to help, sometimes dropping the hitch by 1/2" will make all the difference.

not from my trailer. Saw this on an advt I came across the other day when searching for used Supras ( a habit ).
When I saw your query I went back and found the advt to post as an example.
Personally --I like how it is done--neat , clean , simple and unobtrusive!

I have seen guard rollers on MasterCraft boat trailers, I like them, and haven't installed them yet. My driveway is somewhat steep and does scrape a little.

only way to avoid that is to approach the driveway at an angle and then straighten out the trailer once the back end has cleared the area of concern where it would scrape.
One can also purchase ( or make) a small ramp that eliminate the transition from road to driveway where there is a small dip at the curb.

I'd be concerned about relying on these rollers to eliminate scraping and then getting lazy with your approach or departure angle. As Crystal Waters said, the key is your approach and departure angle. I would try and come at it on a 45 degree angle, get the first tire up and over and then pivot the other tire up on the driveway. That's what I have to do at my parents driveway or else I scrape every time. You can also try cheating and cut across your grass a little if that helps.

All those ideas would work if it wasent that steep lol. Been there done that. Can't stop traffic and expect to try and hit an angle every time you see incline

If any incline causes your trailer to scrape then that leads me to believe that you got a couple of issues that you're dealing with. Bet those springs are tired, worn and sagging and perhaps your tongue height is a bit on the high side. Only really steep inclines get me to drag now and it's really only one at my in laws driveway.

My prop guard often shovels a little gravel from my RV Parking. The RV Parking is at an angle and the road in front of my house is flat. It's pretty hard to avoid it, especially when cars are parked at inconvenient places in my driveway or on the road. Aside from my driveway, I've never scraped except going into a gas station driveway once. But hey, there's a taco stand on the side of the gas station and we needed some post boating tacos!!!

as jetlink says --try playing with your tongue height ---could be that simple!

I understand guys lol. Farmed and ranched my whole life. Trailer sits level as it should. Could possibly be the springs tho. I plan on looking at it tonight ;)

I noticed a huge increase in ground clearance when I got new springs under the boat. It follows a whole lot better now too. Think I gained almost 4 inches of clearance as measured top of tire to bottom of fender. Like I said, my springs were beyond tired when I bought my boat.

Nice. I'd assume I could pick up springs at tractor supply company. Or order some etc. I'm sure ill go with new springs and install rollers. I like the added coverage etc.

I took mine to a spring shop, they did it even with the boat on the trailer. Added a helper spring too so that's a bonus. All said, out the door for less than $300.00 which for me was well worth it!

12293. Looks weak too me

Jetlink

Yeah, those are beyond tired and shot! As a point of reference, if I were to estimate, I have about 4-5 inches of clearance between my tires and the fender at a minimum with the boat sitting on the trailer and I have a nice bow in the springs instead of them being nearly horizontal.

12294 oh I agree with you, here's the clearance ..

I'm looking into what the boat weights, what's your thought on these? 12298. 3500lb capacity per pair. Or there's the next step down.

If its worth doing, it's worth overdoing and trust me, those bigger springs will do you well. Your fender clearance looks like mine did before the spring job. I used to scrape quite a few places and like I said, I'm down to just one driveway that I frequent where I scrape.

Cool. Thanks for the advice!
