After every trip out I have this build up of oil ? It seems to run fine with the exception that the engine will die if you give it too much throttle, you have to ease into the start just a little bit ? It appears this oil is coming out of the filter on top. All of the seals appear to be good. The carb is brand new as of last summer. Maybe someone can look at the hoses etc and see if they are connected in the right places. I think its odd that a hose is connected to the carb and the valve cover ? Is this normal ?

That's how mine looks, wonder if you filled your oil a little on the full side.

that's your PCV valve...positive crankcase ventilation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crankcase_ventilation_system

this could be causing oil buildup. pull the valve out of the valve cover and disconnect the hose. blow compressed air through, spray some degreaser and clean with more air. soaking in carb cleaner will work too.

Awsome guys. Thanks for the help. Any suggestions on why it dies if you give it too much throttle ?

Are you "slamming" the throttle and it dies or does it not matter how fast you introduce throttle?

It only dies if I slam it ?

Sounds like your accelerator pump . They are adjustable there are you tube videos showing how.

just replace the pcv. They wear out and still rattle but don't seal. There cheap.

Thanks guys. I'm going to do both. Replace the valve and make sure the carb is adjusted correctly.

1241612417Does anybody have a pic of the pcv valve. Mine does NOT have one. I need to know which side to put it on.

If you are sitting in the front of the boat looking back at the engine, the PCV valve should be on the left valve cover.
