I think i just may have figured out part of my problems too... I have had my timing at 9 degrees, but i have a AV model on my 454 so it should be at 5 degrees...

For what it's worth I run 10* initial on my 454 with a Mallory Unilite. Forget what my total is and at what RPM.

I also run 10 degrees before TDC.

Make sure you are looking at the Model number of your Mallory.... if it ends in AV then it should be 5 degrees and MV is 9 degrees (I believe... I saw a chart somewhere a couple weeks ago and now can't find the damn thing.....)

Found it!
