I have a 89 Supra TS6M comp with a closed bow. I was wondering how I could create a large wake and still ride 4-5 people.

weight and dial your wake plate up.

"Large" is relative. I also have a Comp. I run 500 lbs across the back seat and retract the wake plate up a little. Need to be careful about weighting this boat because can swamp it. Bow weight did not affect the wake. Experiment with the wake plate. I generally dont crank up all the way. Run a shorter rope. 75' ropes dont work on these boats. That means you have less pendulum effect.

We got some instruction from a pro boarder about how best to use a smaller wake. He rode behind the boat and immediately popped a back roll, a trantrum and some off axis stuff. My son can now backroll. The smaller wake actually helps build confidence and will encourage you to edge harder all the way too the wake. We can wake to wake easily, do 360s. Clean it all up and then go slalom! It's a great boat!

I have put up to 1800 lbs in mine no problem, just dont back off the throttle quickly. But for space and room I like 700 rear locker/sun deck (that i built) and 400 in the nose. You can still walk around with 3-4-5 people and get a nice wake. The best wake is around the engine cover. 600-700 behind the engine with 400's on the sides. you cant walk around very well but its a great wake for 2-3 people and boarding.

..... But you have to realize, this is Jett. He is above mortal man when it comes to weighting a Comp! He is a professional. Dont try this at home :)

Not to sound like a smart a$$ . How about getting a bigger boat? You comp guys own a Ferrari on water but you want to haul a load of gravel and still have room for the wife and kids.

Money don't grow on trees.....

We weight our comp all the time and even surf behind it, and it does awesome.

A clean 89 comp is worth almost as much as a 80s sunsport . especially after you factor in the extras needed to try to make a comp throw a wave. Its like hauling dirt in a Corvette it can do it but an old PU truck will do a better job.

Yeah... Tough decision. Still an active slalom skier. Without gettin insane, one fatsac about 3/4 filled across the back seat does it for us. Can do all the wakeboard tricks the big boat riders do. We've surfed behind it - admittedly small pocket.

Thought about letting the Comp loose, but not for a bigger wake. Want something we can use in salt water ... Yes, really salt water... At the shore. That means a bigger boat. But for now happy with a "do it all" boat. Oh yeah, no way in he!! the Comp will ever see salt water!

It didn't take much to do this behind our comp...

Plus I can run the boat all day non-stop and run about 20 gallons of gas...

Well if you are going to get stuck with a boat that 89 comp is a good one to get stuck with.

Cornrickey I don't know how I missed your surfgate fab thread but after you mentioned it here I went back and found it. It sounds like you are still happy with it? Very impressive.

love them. only issue is storage.I leave both of them on if in teaching because asuperclean wake doesn't matter but storing them takes some room. no lean can't be beat.
