Hello, new to the forum and supra's. I currently have a 1991 regal 200 that I like but have been looking to upgrade to something a little bigger and mostly a big block. I'm looking at this one(I know not much info or pics) I can't find anything wrong with it, upholstry is great, runs like a dream, engine is a 400hp build. I have been offered the boat for 9500, what do you guys think? Anything I should look for with this model? I participate a lot on a golf cart and harley forum so looking for some info from you pros. Thanks for any help.

Forgot the link. The seller has complete history, two owner boat and very clean(I hate the paint scheme though, definitely see a ppg to match my street glide in the near future if I buy it)

Kinda hard to say. All we know right now is that it's a 1992 Saltare with 400hp and good upholstery. Do you have a link to the ad? Any pics? Number of hours? Any upgrades? Trailer? The only thing I can tell you is that being a 1992 model, it's likely to have composite stringers and not wood ones. That's a very good thing. Depending on many factors the boat could be worth between $7,000 and $15,000.

Forgot to post this, not much info, I almost didn't give the boat a second thought until I did some research. He is second owner with history of everything from day one. He is selling due to buying a larger boat and it is kept in a storage under cover. I'm wanting it to ski/wakeboard and haulass...

590 hours and round windshield, assuming composite. Open bow

Tried posting a link but it says moderator must approve it. He only posted a few pics, I looked at it today and couldn't find anything that said he didn't take great care of it.

Hopefully a mod will open one of my replys with the link. I'm looking for a boat for my kids to to ski, tube and get into wake boarding and of course haulin tail on the water. Everything I read says the saltare is the boat I want as I enjoy classics and work on everything I own myself. Opinions on the boat in general?

that boat's been for sale at least all summer. that's not necessarily a bad thing for the buyer. but, has it been run lately or just sitting?

400hp would have to be some after-market work. trailer but no tower or mention of anything else like perfect pass.

that's not an awful price but there have been some other later 90's boats posted for sale lately with lots of goodies. the location may not have been local so that costs gas and time to travel. it's worth taking a closer look/ride and seeing if you can get it a little cheaper.

Thanks for posting pics, anything specific to look for? I've only had an I/O before so not sure of maintenance needed/what to look for on an inboard. I'm used to a deeper V also, will the extra length compensate for the shallow hull any when it comes to handling a little bit rougher water?

He's only had it in the water twice this summer since he bought a new supra(at least he doesn't hate it right?)

Just seen you're in Austin Salty, I'm in the georgetown area, where do you boat?

There's not anything specific to "look out for" in a Saltare. It's a good boat, and a big boat. The only complaint I hear is the stock 454 is thirsty (and I'm assuming a 400hp version would be as well), but nobody gets into boating to save money or get good mileage. It doesn't look like the factory trailer - it also looks to be lighter duty than what the Saltares came with.

That's a lot of boat for $9,500.

But I agree with Salty. It depends on what options you want to have in a boat. Tower? Perfect Pass, ballast, stereo, etc. Figure out what it will take to get this boat where you want it and then see what else is out there for that price. Then you'll be able to make an informed decision.

If in good condition that is a good price. Composite for under $10k is very good. Composite boats usually start around $12k. Newer rebuild with more power also adds value. If I came across that when I was boat shopping I'd jump on it.
