So I have been thinking about the Allegro... So rare and cool but an absolute ghost as Haugy put it.... What about other manufactures of inboard ski boat stuff. Back in the early 80's there was some crazy stuff coming out like the Cuddy Nautique and the Fish Nautique. Lets all scour the net and dig up some cool or ugly stuff.

I myself love the inboard boats and wish I could find something to fit my likes. Here's what I am looking for......
Sleeps 4-6
Head and galley
Inboard
Surf/wakeboard ski friendly
Big water ready

Any ideas of the largest Skiable boat out there ??? Saltare is a healthy 24' but could someone built something larger. Just noticed 1000th post!!!

I have a San Juan that I'm hoping to have in the water next year... and am a few days away from acquiring another "parts" San Juan. If you look at the 1966 brochure, they actually show a girl long boarding behind the San Juan wake... which is an I/O model. Mine of course is an inboard.
http://www.correctcraftfan.com/reference/1966_brochure/index.asp?page=06

I think the battery issue was just because batteries back then weren't as robust as they are now. It probably was much better to just get one locally when you bought the boat.

FYI, there are 2 Mastercraft 240SCs for sale on Craigslist right now.

Are you talking about the Wave Comp? That looks like a fun as hell boat, it's tiny and the engine is in front of the driver. Not too many pictures online.

There are a couple in this thread: http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/549884.html?1207890670

Mastercraft's '87 Tristar was weird, with a windshield on one side and wrap-around seating all the way into the bow. Seems like it would always be leaning to port...

This is the boat that I started on. The one I rode behind had a black scorpion engine, heater, hot-water shower, ballast, v-drive and a tower and it was a 1997 model. My girlfriend owned it and all of my "real wakeboarder" friends would give us shit for riding behind a Bayliner. When we broke up, I had the opportunity to buy it for just a little bit more than I paid for my Saltare. I decided I would buy a "real wakeboard boat" and get the Supra. (Plus, I didn't want to bail her out of a stupid loan that she took on to buy it.)

It was probably one of the worst decisions I've ever made. That boat, even though it was a Bayliner, was really nice! I know I would have saved money and had much more modern boat in the long run.

There are a couple of the Maxum's that are the same v-drive (I heard it was the sister boat of the bayliner one) that have been on CL over here for most of the summer. IIRC, one had an aftermarket tower and PP and they wanted like $13.5 and the other one has been at $14k forever... I've heard they didn't have very good build quality...

I've read several comments similar to yours about the Ski/Wake Challenger boats. Others on other forums have said they were very mechanically sound and the ski wake was excellent.

Sort of like the SeaRay Ski Ray. 19' little tournament boat with a Mercruiser 350, put out a decent ski wake and the materials were actually not bad because SeaRay. And tons cheaper than a well-known inboard brand. I've skied behind one lots of times and the only inboard I've been behind with a flatter ski wake was an '05 Nautique.

Not a radar towerl. That "radar tower" had a net that hung underneath it between both sides and down towards the floor about mid way down the doghouse. The point was to keep the handle from smacking the driver/judge in case of a handle snapping back. It's 100% removable.

That one might be a BF200, or a prostar200, hard to tell. Both had outboards.

God I love those old wooden boats. I've always wanted to build a modern hull in the old lap strake style with all the bright work and varnish of the speed boats from the '20s and '30s. I never will, but you gotta admit it would be cool. I'm currently toying with replacing my carpet with teak/holley cabin sole plywood just for that feel. Could end up looking really dumb though.

I think you might surprise yourself, it's actually not that hard. I've never tried it since I started skiing double boots though, that's probably a bit tougher. I saw my instructor do it once, but for the most part nobody does dock starts of any kind at the club, and my dock isn't finished yet at the cottage.

In 89 they redesigned the boat a bit, and put in those cheap crap cup holders that every boat has, except our are all broken :/

Also, they took all the nice teak wood trim away in 89...

Here's an odd duck, the Dixie Super Skier 299 from Mastercraft. I thought mine had a huge engine cover. Looks like the hoses and impeller are off the engine. I can't believe it only has 150 hours since 1985. That motor needs to be ran. Of course, Supra used the same gauges as Mastercrafts but very odd config for the speedos. Interesting to note that Mastercraft was using metallic paint on a fiberglass swim platform while Supra was still using a lot of teak in and around the boat in 1985. (Not that I mind.)
The upholstery looks great to be the original. This is just around the corner from me, I would love to go check it out.
