I have a 2010 21v and every time I turn the key it blows a 20 amp starter fuse and won't start. I've tried cleaning all battery terminals, starter and ground terminals etc... Still doing the same thing. Could I have a bad ignition switch/starter motor or something else? Any one else run into this problem?

I pulled the ignition switch out tonight but I can't figure out how to get it apart...

Thanks

Could be a starter staying engaged or a bad relay.

Unhook the starter and turn key. If it pops the fuse you know it's not the starter. If it doesn't its your starter

Thanks villain.

Ok, switched out the ignition switch today and same thing. Which wires do I leave hooked to the starter so I have power to everything except the starter? If it is the starter should I have it rebuilt or buy new? If it isn't the starter is it something in the wiring? How do I check the relay?

Unhook the power going to the starter and do a continuity test on the terminal and to the block. My bet is the starter going to ground.....

If I was doing the continuity test correctly then it looks like the started is bad. I pulled it out and I am going to drop by a started rebuild place today and see if they will test it/repair it or buy a new one. After the starter was out it seemed as if the gear was hard to engage and wouldn't really turn...I really hope this is the issue.

have them rebuild it. You will get higher quality parts.

Had it rebuilt at a local shop for $80... put it in and it fired right up.

good to hear. 80 is cheap.
