Depth finder not happy

2004 22v depth finder will not show any reading while stationary or at low speeds (just strait bars) but will flash up random depths at higher speeds.
I'm pulling my hair out

Dose anyone know where to locate the transponder?

And has anyone had a similar issue and resolved it??

Not sure if my 08 is the same...do you have a paddle wheel in yours as well? My depth finder is going TU as well. In my boat the paddle wheel, depth finder and water temperature(lake) is all in one unit.

Yeah it dose have the paddle wheel. I found a previous post where the fluid had leaked out of the transponder and the owner had replaced it with mineral oil and fixed the problem.
I found mine yesterday, removed it and found it to be a sealed unit so I don't think that's the issue.
Have done a google search with little to no info on trouble shooting and testing.

I am thinking it may just be an electrical component that is going bad...I think that's what it is with mine too. Around $400 for a new one with all 3 sensors...of course you have to replace them all, as it is one unit.
