Hi everyone,

Just took the plunge on a 2011 242 Sunsport. I owned a 1998 Four Winns Horizon 180 for the last 10 years... and it was a great boat (sold it to a good friend of mine). However, I wanted a bigger boat (didn't quite plan on one this big!) and I came across what I feel was a great deal.

This particular boat is really like brand new. THe engine IS brand new (5 hours and still breaking in). THe motor was a full crate motor warranty replacement by Indmar. It was a big commitment, but I feel like I got a good deal...54,500 OTD.

I do all maintenance on my vehicles, so I'm anxious to start sponging knowledge from this forum so I can do the same with my new boat.

I am a skier, but looking forward to learning to wakeboard and surf.

Cheers!

Congrats on your new boat! I'm not sure where you are in the country, but hopefully you're in a spot where you can still get plenty of use out of it this summer/fall. Post some pics so we can see what you've got.

What happened that it already needed a new engine?

I will post up some pix when I get a chance. There was evidently some issue with the exhaust manifold, but the work order specified water found in the oil. So Indmar just authorized a warranty engine replacement.

I see a dry suit in your future. I bought mine in March and busted out my old suit I hadn't used in 10 years to get out on the water. congrats

Welcome and congrats on the new ride. That is a huge leap from a 98 Four Winns!

Where are you located? Sounds similar to a boat here locally.

.............. and pics of course!

Very nice boat, I should have elaborated a little further than what's she got. I meant to ask about your setup (speakers, ballast, etc) which I'm sure will come once you upload pics :).

Let's see,
got the Roswell light bar/speaker combo.
Z5 cargo rack/shade.
10" subwoofer and amps.
Dual battery with charger.
3 Ballast tanks... I'm not sure if it's 1200 or 1700 lbs.

I think the ballast is a bit less on the sunsport (I think 1200 vs 1700lbs? You can upgrade the soft bags though to much bigger I think.

The boat seems loaded, but not really sure at this point what is all considered optional or standard. Also came with full snapin cover and the nice mooring cover.

Stereo is nice, but I am going to need more power I think hahaha!
