Wow... Me and my dad dropped off the supra at the local marina to get the windshield replaced under insurance. And while we were waiting for the owner/mechanic we started on the prop shaft. Found out, we have an ARE shaft :D Was very easy to get apart and take the castle nut out and take the coupling off the shaft. :D
Pete Swartout (owner/mechanic) was amazed at what we found. And thought it was strange to see an ARE setup on a 1992 boat. He said he's seen it before but its rare. Thank you Supra!

Things is, we didnt see this until we had it out in the sun after we got the prop off. It broke under where the prop sits on the shaft...
I wonder if it was over torqued when installed years ago. Over time the metal fatigued and caused the crack from the metal stretching.

That looks like it has been repaired/welded at some point. I can't figure out another reason for the metal to be discolored.

only thing my dad has done in the past is fix a few dings from over the years. A ball pin-hammer and a big sledge on the back side... Other than that, he has not touched it. Boat is 1992, bought it in 1994. 2nd owner.

Wow. Very lucky to find that before the prop came off! I've had a shaft break on the water before, not awesome. Not in my boat, but an old correct craft (60's).
