Looking at a '84 Rider with a 440. Will this motor be harder to find parts for than the 351? Was this a good motor? Seems most of the boats I see have the 351 or 454. Any input will be appreciated.

oh sweet! 440 are nice motors. Sadly prices are much higher for parts, but they have a sweet sound and have great power. any pics?

The 440 is a dead reliable, torquey thing that should give you many years of enjoyment. I would LOVE to find a classic with the Chrysler lump, a comp with one would be brilliant as I'd like to have a comp someday.

sorry, as Far as I know comps only came with the 230HP 351W up to 1989. then 240HP, 1992 240HP or 285HP, then 1993 240HP or 285HP or 310HP EFI TBI, then 1995 I think it went straight to 310HP GT40 motor. All 351W

Would the tranny and prop be different due to the higher HP?

up to 1989 1:1 13X13, 1989 and after 1.23:1 should all be 14X16 OJ Legend prop I believe.
