Does anyone have or know of a board rack that can be mounted with out a tower? I'm tired of tripping over boards all over my interior, I'm not 100% sure i want to add a tower to my boat. I just have this thing about drilling holes in something that is supposed to float....

As long as the hole are not under water.... i think you have to drill holes anyway, board racks need a good mount too.

I've thought about this a bunch. I also am in between tower or no tower. I haven't been able to identify a clear spot inside the footprint of the interior. First I thought about an arm extension off the ski pylon with a two slot rack and a pass through for the rope. Downside, blocks view out mirror and boards are wide enough to still get in the way when walking each side of the engine box. Have also thought mounting (fixed or some sort of industrial strength suction) board racks on the outside of the interior / top cap in between the air intake vent and the stern mounted cleat. Downside, impacts how you load and unload the boat off the trailer and impacts how you dock, moor, etc.
Anyone have any thoughts? I really would like the convenience of the tower for storage space but also really like how good the boat looks on the water without the jungle gym mounted in top.

I know there are racks with suction cups somewhere, I've seen them around. As for not putting a tower up because of drilling holes, don't worry about it. It's very easy to do.

I like the suction cup idea. I'm not worried about how to drill the hole... I just don't want to drill holes in my boat. I agree with Ckracing, I love the way the boat looks with out the tower. That's another major reason I'm on the fence about a tower. Don't get me wrong, I've seen a lot of nice looking older supras with towers, I really like the classic lines and sometimes the towers detract from it

Now if only someone made a suction cup tower lol.....

my SN had a pole extension. I built my own board rack that mounted to it on the top. pretty easy to do

You could probably get creative with the combination of these two. I have the skylon pole extension which I could put racks on, but I feel like it would result in me hitting my head on them all the time.

I posted this earlier. Saw this over labor day. I have a pylon extension similar to this and had been wondering how to pull off something like it. I agree that the whole aesthetic of the classic older boat is completely changed by adding a tower. The pole comes down easily and you are back to beautiful Supra lines in minutes but have the option to make boarders happy as well.
