View Full Version : '88 TS6m Throttle linkage at carb

Just had carb rebuilt after over a decade of use, ran great until last summer, the spray pattern had gummed up, but that's not the point...

The throttle linkage, where the cable fitting through bolts into the carb levers, has what I judge to be a non-original nut. It's just a nut with a star washer.
I can't imagine this is correct, since tightening down the existing nut/washer clamps down on the pivot - if that makes sense.

I look for online photos of carb linkage in general, and not much there since the nut in question is inboard of the throttle cable. Is a nylon locking nut
the way to go on this? There is no room for a jam nut set-up.

Thanks,

Grover.

Ok, update: I just saw this set-up on Jegs. Seems odd to me, although it's the same. Any thoughts? I don't like the set up, although, I can't say it ever caused a problem.

Thanks for photos. They actually solve the issue. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't realize the ball part of it was in fact the "bushing" that I was expecting to see. It certainly explains the spring on the socket part of the ball connection.

So the nut and lock washer get tightened (which I think they were loose and threw me off a little bit as well) and a little bit of lube on the ball joint, and it's good to go.

Thanks again. The dim light bulb finally came on for me.
