What are the cost benefits of running an aftermarket intake on the 454?

ummm cost benefits, I don't think there are any... lol

But even just putting a Edelbrock Performer intake on a 351W is a notable difference. Much better low end torque and helps turn out a couple more revs...

I don't know about PCM 454's but the ones Mercruiser used had weak bottom ends. They were rated for 330HP and most guys say dont go over 360HP or else you have to rebuild the entire bottom end with something that can handle the power. Our friends have a Scarab with twin 454's and they have to have a little more fun but the entire bottom rebuild is stopping them lol
