Hey guys,

I've been a long time lurker here. I broke my anchor light last year and wanted to replace it with one that was mounted on top of the spool. Some of the solutions out there get REALLY expensiveI spotted this old Wakeworld thread (http://goo.gl/dBZLSG) and am going to do something similar to what John did.

To do it nicely I need to have a new aluminum spool cap made to fit the light, and get a hollow screw to run the wires through. It got me wondering if there would be enough interest to justify having a few sets made. It will certainly make it cheaper for me.

This is what I'm thinking: http://i.imgur.com/5eLE9cf.jpg

I'm set up to use this light: http://goo.gl/L9iAS2, but I could also put in the mounting threads for this light: http://goo.gl/U4GmA5. If 10 people were interested I think it could be done for ~$55, not including the light.

Also, if you can't tell in the picture, I need a new spool. Is there a reasonable place to get these online?

My 2008 has the light on top of there already. I wonder if you can call supra about getting one from them?

I see you have a comptech release there too. My best safety investment for the boat!

I'll give Surpa a call and see if they can get me in anything for under $100. It just seems ridiculous to pay that much to have a pretty light bulb.

Yea, I got the release for the hydrofoil -- I can just envision awful things happening if that wing grabs the rope.

That's also why we have it. What kind of foil do you have and where do you ride?

I'm in Charlotte, so Lake Wylie's my stomping grounds. I've got a Sky Ski-- the Launch. You? (It's actually my brother's, he's nice enough to let me play with it since our season runs so much longer than Michigan's!)

We live in Northern Colorado - own sky ski but also have an X-air - the top end one. My wife competes. How long you been foiling? Do you know the Chismar's or Rick Mason?

Where do you boat in CO? I've thought about moving out there multiple times... but I love the lakes I have access to in the Midwest (Ozarks, Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Stockton, etc.)

As for the light... the lights that came on Supra's are all made by Attwood. Their website has a few options that you may be able to fit on there. Reasonable on price too...

Our lakes are nothing like yours. I live about 5 minutes from horsetooth reservoir outside of Fort Collins

Todd, I'm actually heading out to your neck of the woods for April. Was gonna work from Denver, do some climbing, and try not to think about moving out there. What is boating like in CO? Is it super expensive to keep it at a nice lake?

RE: The light, my dealer quoted me $150 for a light and spool mount from a 2005 that would probably work. This is it: http://i.imgur.com/mxI6FgU.jpg. Just seems like SO MUCH for what it is, which is why I keep coming around to making a decent solution that's a bit more reasonably priced.
